Confidentiality of Records
This site is intended for individuals to keep track of materials they have read and/or would like to read. Individual user accounts are confidential. No personally identifiable information is collected at the time of registration or at any other time. Each individual chooses his or her own username
at registration, so if the user chooses his or her legal name as a username, there could be a link to that individual. Users are highly encouraged to choose a non-identifiable username in order to maintain user privacy. There is no information link between specific individuals and their library
account or their username (unless an individual chooses to use his or her legal name as a username, as described above) within this database. Library records and My Reading Log accounts are protected from disclosure to unauthorized individuals under the Library Privacy Act (Michigan Public Act
455 of 1982 Chapter 397 Sections 601-606.
Subpoenas or Court Orders
Although MyReadingLog.org is intended for the private use of patrons of TLN member libraries, user records may be subject to release to and examination by local, state, or federal authorities pursuant to the USA PATRIOT Act (United States Public Law 107-56 Section 215) and/or other state or federal
laws. The Library Network is legally bound to comply with properly executed subpoena, court order or other legal process. Therefore, any information you would not want to be disclosed to legal authorities or pursuant to state or federal law should not be kept in your account.
Cookies
A session cookie is used while you are logged in to your account, but no information is gathered from this cookie and it is removed automatically when you log out.
Public Lists
Information, such as book titles and author’s names, may be compiled from user accounts at a future date in order to provide a "recommended reading list" or other anonymous list that would be viewable by all visitors. Such a list will not be compiled until there is a sufficient membership
and number of entries to ensure anonymity.
